The individual components are made of solid aluminum and bronze blocks. Uncompromising materials of the highest quality, purity and environmental compatibility are used. Manufactured in Germany on highly sensitive and precise CNC milling machines or CNC lathes.
We can offer the surfaces matte or glossy polished. All anodized colors are possible. For the tonearm tube, there are no limits to the colors and surfaces.
The 12.2 inches tonearm tube consists of a wood-carbon combination. This ensures effective damping and high rigidity. In this way, disruptive vibrations are effectively suppressed and the sound reproduction quality increased.
The wood we use comes from local trees that we have personally selected and checked for quality suitable for tonearm construction. We often use maple, apple and plum wood.
The wood is carefully dried. The arm tubes are lathed from one piece. Then they are stored again at room temperature and receive your surface finish according to the customer's requirements.
We have stabilized the single-point bearing of our tonearm because this allows for comfortable handling when placing it on the record. The usual "annoying wobbling of typical one-pointers" has been eliminated. In addition, we have installed this stabilization for both tonearm geometries. It doesn't matter whether you operate the tonearm straight or with an offset angle - it is always stabilized.
Setting the bearing stabilization. On the bearing housing of the tonearm, the bearing stabilization set to match the selected offset angle (Baerwald or Zero Degree). This is done by adjusting the screw in the slot.
There is two options for setting the tonearm geometry: The tonearm can be operated completely without offset angle. Or with an offset angle according to BAERWALD. This gives you the opportunity for audiophile experiments.
The cartridge is attached to the head shell with the two front screws. The right screw forms the pivot point. The left screw aligns the cartridge to the desired angle (Baerwald or zero degrees).
The head shell can be attached to the sleeve. The two clamping pins at the top hold it in place. Not only can the cartridge be mounted externally, the azimuth can also be conveniently adjusted.
Because we placed the handle at the back of the sleeve so that it cannot cause any spurious vibrations far away from the sensitive cantilever.
The head shell can be removed without an additional cable separation point and is extremely rigid. In this way, we avoid unnecessary disruptive factors that could affect the sound.
The head shell is straight at the front edge, aligned horizontally. This offers a visual orientation when setting the azimuth.
Tip: If the voices are not in the middle during the listening test, you can adjust this using the azimuth.
The vertical tracking force is adjusted on the counterweight. Made of solid bronze, its fine thread allows precise adjustment while the cantilever is located on the tonearm scale. One turn is equivalent to 0,04 lbs of setting.
Skating / Anti-Skating : We deliberately do without an anti-skating device. Because it means a vibrating system. That's why we chose one 12.2 inches long tonearm. According to our computations, this dimension is the optimal ratio of a good fit and a moderate horizontal skating force.
Setting the vertical tracking angle: With the turning top knob, the height adjustment can be adjusted conveniently. Also during playback. Use your hearing for this. This allows you to further optimize the sound.
When the VTA is set, the position can be fixed using a clamp pin. We recommend this measure because it also serves to avoid spurious vibrations.
It is because of the center distance: To be able to adjust the "Pivot to Spindle" distance (and the associated conversion from overhang to underhang) , we have different solutions around ours tonearm Lignum worked out:
The Lignum L tonearm offers various connection options at the base. Among other things, XLR or RCA. We can add more connections or options upon request.
For the
Lignum R, too, we are working out the connection option according to customer requirements.
We offer our tonearm Lignum for all turntables. It can be mounted as 12,2 inch tonearm also on 9 inch or 10,5 inch bases. And, it can be operated with two different geometries (straight rigid 0° and according to Baerwald). We customize the design to your turntable and are open to your wishes.
